Student counselling

The course of higher education studies does not always run smooth. Disappointing results? Concentration difficulties? Doubts about the choice and/or course of studies? Problems with social integration or conflicts? Overwhelmed by too much work?  In need of a confidential talk?  The student counsellor (Kristien De Smedt) will try to help.

Career counselling

The career counsellor will answer your questions about your programme, if you want an adapted course or wish to apply for an exemption, etc. ... He will try to find the most efficient learning path whilst providing support for a successful academic career along the way.

Accreditation of Prior Experiential/Certificated Learning (known as the EVC/EVK procedure). Accreditation of Prior Experiential/Certificated Learning (known as the  EVK/EVC procedure), may reduce the length of your studies. You can apply for a customised programme (subject to approval). Your personal situation serves as a starting point to determine which courses you can be exempted from.

You contact the career counsellor when you:

Wish to initiate an EVC procedure

Qualify for exemptions on the basis of EVK

Want to take certain courses again

Want to register for an examination contract (= when you want to obtain a diploma or a number of credits, but not attend the courses – You then simply take the examination).

Want to register for a credit contract (= when you want to study not for a diploma, but to get credits for loose courses).

Concert hall

The conservatory has a unique 19th century concert hall renowned for its wonderful acoustics. Home of the preliminary rounds of the Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition of Belgium, it is also frequented by leading ensembles, soloists, and conductors.

Students at the Conservatorium get free admission to all concerts in the Concert Hall, not only those of the Concertvereniging, but also concerts organised by third parties (Philharmonic Association, Ars Musica festival, etc.).
