Tango Ensemble
Born within the context of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, SoundAmerican brings together three young musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, united by the desire to approach tango from a contemporary perspective, balancing the Río de la Plata tradition with a present-day artistic vision. The intimate combination of voice, piano and violin offers a chamber-music reading of the tango canción, where text, instrumental gesture and shared breath shape a direct and expressive musical discourse.
Far from nostalgic reconstruction, the ensemble seeks a fresh sound in dialogue with the present. It integrates the Argentine and Uruguayan heritage of the genre into a classical training and an artistic sensibility developed in Brussels. Tango emerges here as a living language, constantly evolving.
The project brings together the French violinist Juliette Didine, whose work explores sound and interdisciplinary projects; the Venezuelan pianist Sebastian Crespo, performer and pedagogue trained between Europe and Latin America; and the Uruguayan tenor Martín Gestido, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Together, they create a musical space that unites tradition, artistic research and a generational vision open to dialogue.
