Alongside his solo career, he is active in chamber music and creates programs for guitar and orchestra.
Since the 1980s, his work has focused on promoting post-Franco Spanish music, establishing him as an important ambassador for 20th-century Spanish guitar repertoire. At the same time, he is highly regarded for his deep understanding of historical music especially J.S. Bach shaped by his studies with Karl Scheit and collaborations with Bach experts such as Frank-Michael Beyer and Ruth Zechlin.
His close relationships with composers like Antonio Ruiz-Pipó, Carlos Cruz de Castro, Tomás Marco, John W. Duarte, Vaclav Kucera, Matilde Salvador, and Anna Segal have resulted in numerous dedications of solo, chamber, and orchestral works.
From 1983 to 2006, he taught at the Musikhochschule Münster and has been invited to give masterclasses worldwide. He also serves as a juror at major international competitions, including the Certamen Francisco Tárrega, Francisco Guerrero, Alhambra, Dr. Luis Sigall, and the Guitar Foundation of America.
Since the early 1990s, he has recorded extensively. Early releases on Koch Schwann featured Spanish music, concertos, and chamber works. More recently, he has recorded the complete guitar works of Antonio Ruiz-Pipó for NAXOS and music by Anna Segal. His latest release is La Guitarra, set to texts by Federico García Lorca. Most of his recordings are available on streaming platforms.
In addition to rare solo recitals, he continues to perform with chamber ensembles and as a soloist with orchestras.
