Old Songs, new voices | Pollmann Project Concert

Old Songs, new voices - between love and farewell.

After a year and a half of cataloguing, research and editorial work on the folk song collections of Jop Pollmann, the collection is ready to be presented to a wider audience. This will be done in a celebratory way, with a series of folk music concerts at various locations.

After the concert, we are pleased to invite you to a reception.

The Musicians

The musicians Helena Schoeters, Osama Abdulrasol and Tom Theuns immersed themselves in the rich Pollmann collection and present a surprising selection of folk songs. Rather than offering a museological approach, they seek renewal through dialogue with tradition.

Sneak peak

“The library of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel invited us to work with the rich collection of songbooks by ethnomusicologist Jop Pollmann. From this impressive collection we selected texts and melodies that form the starting point for a new musical project. Together with Osama Abdulrasol I am developing new repertoire, for which I also compose music myself. At the moment we are intensively composing and refining, soon to be followed by rehearsals with the exceptional Tom Theuns as a third musician. Concerts will follow in mid February in Leuven, Mechelen, Brussels and Ghent.”
