International examination praises the high quality of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel

The Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel aims for an 'extremely high' artistic level, according to an international commission that examined the institution in 2018. The committee calls the teaching team 'highly qualified' and the graduated musicians of 'very high quality'. The flexible nature of the programmes and the way in which students are followed up is valued as well.

In addition, the flourishing international character of our institution has been noticed. With its large number of foreign students (about 60% of the total), the music programme offers an excellent multicultural biotope.
For the students from Flanders, says the committee, this international environment offers 'a new experience that can stimulate them to find their musical identity'.

In parallel with the positive aspects, there are also working areas. There are some interesting sectors or target groups that are not always reached. We take that to heart,' says Kathleen Coessens, director of the conservatoire. 'We are in the process of setting out these new lines. In a recent community project, the opera Leedberg, we worked with amateur singers, migrants and children from Brussels. We are open to the world.'
